Two weeks understanding the market before touching the site

Two weeks spent understanding your market before anyone touches a page. Some diagnostics end with us advising against a monthly plan, which is the point of doing one first.

The diagnostic

Most SEO work starts in the wrong place

A typical engagement opens with a tool export: a hundred-item audit produced in an afternoon, sorted by severity, with no view of the business behind it. Nobody has yet asked whether organic search can carry this company, which part of the market is winnable, or what a realistic first year looks like.

So a monthly retainer starts, activity is produced, reports are sent, and a year later the honest answer arrives anyway: demand in the category is too thin, or three established competitors already own every query worth having. By then it has cost a great deal more to reach.

We would rather find that out in the first two weeks, write it down, and tell you plainly. The diagnostic costs $160, and the fee is credited against your first month if you continue. If organic search turns out to be the wrong channel, you have learned it for the price of the diagnostic rather than after a year of fees.

What the work is

The diagnostic, in four parts.

01

Category and competitor review

We map the queries your buyers actually use, from early research to vendor comparison, and size each cluster by monthly US search volume. Then we look at who ranks for them today and why: the depth of their pages, the strength of their domains, and how often they publish. The result is a short list of query clusters you could realistically win in the next year, and an equally clear list of the ones to leave alone.

02

Content and technical baseline

We crawl the site, read your Search Console data for the past 16 months if you grant access, and review your existing pages against the clusters that matter. The aim is not a list of every warning a tool can raise. It is to know what condition the foundation is in (indexing, internal links, page templates, duplicate or thin content) before anyone commits to building on it.

03

Written recommendation

One document, typically ten to fifteen pages, with a clear position: pursue organic search, pursue it in a narrower form, or put the budget elsewhere. Each recommendation is ranked by expected effect and effort, and written so that someone who was not on our calls can follow the reasoning and act on it.

04

A walkthrough, then your decision

We take you through the findings on a 45-minute video call and answer follow-up questions in writing. There is no sales sequence afterward and no pressure to continue. If you do move onto a monthly plan, the $160 is credited against your first month, so the diagnostic costs nothing extra.

What you receive
  • A written recommendation, typically ten to fifteen pages, yours outright
  • A query and competitor sheet you can filter and sort, rather than a slide of estimates
  • A ranked list of technical and content fixes, with the reasoning stated for each
  • One 45-minute walkthrough call, with no obligation of any kind afterward
Timeline

Two weeks from kickoff to delivery. The first week is spent reading your site, your competitors, and your Search Console data before anything is written. The walkthrough call follows within a few working days of delivery, at a time that suits you.

Who this is for

Businesses considering a steady, long-term investment in organic search that want an honest read on their category before they commit, and in-house teams that want a second opinion on a strategy they already have.

What it costs

Priced on the pricing page — no quote needed to find out.

Questions

About this service.

What if the answer is no?
Then the document says no and explains why, with the evidence. About one diagnostic in five recommends a narrower scope than the client expected, and a few recommend no monthly plan at all. Those clients paid for a clear answer, which is what they came for.
Can we act on it without you?
Yes. It is written so that a capable in-house marketer, a developer, or another agency can carry it out without us in the room. You own the document outright once the invoice is paid, and you are free to share it with whoever you hire.
Is it refundable?
In full, before work begins. Once the document is delivered it is not, because you have it. That is stated plainly on the refund page rather than buried in the terms.
